Fourth Quarterage liek woah. [15 May 2005|09:26pm]
[ mood | busy ]

Lovett is a fucking Speedy Gonzales and a star. Keps and Laycock are love.

It's refreshing not to see AHYC loaping around the ground anymore as well as Bolton, (welcome back Hilly!)

Serious arse tappage going on today (YAY BOY LOVE!)

Lloydy must be ropeable, the delivery to him is fucking shit, can't get a free to save his life anymore either.

WTF was with asking Zantuck if he'd take the behind?! Almost beats out the 'weak dog'-ness in stupidity.

Freo supporters look like they are bogans on crack. Seriously, some of them are scary :/

JOBE in for Murphy next week, kthanx?

Also; that scoreboard tribute? clips and everything were ace, but the music? Hehee!

GOTTA LOVETT! [25 Apr 2005|09:51pm]
[ mood | OMG LOVETT! ]

Dude, he's awesome, lovett (hee) how he's already a cult figure!

James Hird is my hero. Thought the old man's arthritis had flared up as he was Mr. Angry at the start, but he caaaan fly! And that goal? Woah.

Good to see Rioli back this week, although he needs to remember how to slot them through. Same for Scotty. Smokey played himself back into form, Fletch was Fletch. Laycock reminds me of some giant and bizarre bird, but he was snazzy today as well.

The Bear was totally fed this week

Squee! [20 Apr 2005|08:14pm]
[ mood | amused ]

Also aiming for selection is Jobe Watson. He ran a personal best during this afternoon’s time trial and his coach was expecting him to follow it up with good training session and put his hand up for selection.

"He’ll be jumping out of his skin tonight at training. He’s always a chance, because he has a footy brain and good hands and puts his head over the ball."

YAAAAAAY JOBE!!!1!1six!!

Seriously, a time trial that Bolts didn't win?! I'm in shock.

After this week of every second person coming out and trying to fire us up, we better fucking lift come ANZAC Day.

Vs Hawks [11 Apr 2005|12:06am]
[ mood | cranky ]

Kepler is a star, JJ should go out partying till 4.30 every week. Lovett's another superfreak. We are even more screwed without Fletch.

Broken arm twin won us the game! Kicked two behinds!1!!!eleven!1!! *cough* Really, he did nothing. Fabulous move that was!

Oldman!Hird should stop getting cramps when he needs to be Mr. Everywhere in the last quarter.

Teddy made me laugh about 50 times during the game when he was ribbing Barker. It's extremely fun to scream, 'would you like monfries with that' every time Angus goes near the ball and get strange looks from other people.

I've never heard supporters whinge so much, every contest a poor Hawthorn player was being pushed in the back. Umpires were terrible though. Am very sick of close matches.

Can't shake this disappointed feeling.

Not much to say [27 Mar 2005|11:18am]
[ mood | tired ]

Well that sucked.

Weeee haaaave nooo fooowaaaard liiiine. Just AHYC, who is terribly craptastical. But he did add 1 (?) more goal to his tally. Cupido is also manages to be craptastical when he tries to be fancy and it just doesn't work.

Scotty played ok, that goal was fucking brilliant. Keps was fun to watch, as was Smokes (if only people would pass it properly to him *cough*MURPHY*cough*)

The hotdogs at the 'G are really huge now, but apparently still tasteless

The end.

[ mood | bouncy ]

It's still a Woosha article.

Welsh leads young Bombers

Bomber defender Andrew Welsh believes a good start to the Wizard Cup is important to the Bombers fortunes this season and expects to see a competitive Essendon on Sunday.

"The last few years you have seen the teams that have done well in the Wizard Cup really set up their season, so its something that we have been working on to have a really good crack at it." Welsh said today at the Wizard Cup press conference.

...Collapse )

"Those sort of guys are the ones we are going to be looking for especially on Sunday, to stand up and get a feel for senior footy and push hard to carry us through the year." Welsh said.

"We have got the stage where we are making the finals, but we aren’t happy with where we are finishing. We were only 10 points out of a prelim last year."

...Collapse )

He also believes that having a younger player in the leadership group can only be a benefit for the club.

"Its good for our younger guys, it’s not that easy when you come to a club in the first couple of years and maybe go up to James Hird or Matthew Lloyd with their problems. It’s easier to come to myself who is in their fourth season and then relay it onto the other guys in the leadership meetings."

More grooming! Hooray!

I should've left out the cuts, they didn't really do much.

Draft! [20 Nov 2004|09:25pm]
[ mood | fooootbaaal!!! ]

Floods of footy news... yay, I am no longer starved!!

Today we picked up:

Angus Monfries (Sturt - selection 14) - Medium, inside midfielder who is a prolific ball winner with a great work ethic and football smarts. S.A. under 18 representative winning All Australian honors this year.AIS-AFL graduate who was prominent playing for Australia against Ireland at Under 17 level this year.

Andrew Lee (Tassie Mariners - selection 30) - Tall forward who is a good contested mark and a very good kick for goal. A Tasmanian under 18s representative and his agility run of 8.04 seconds was outstanding for a tall forward. Played senior football with Burnie. He stands 194cm tall and weighs 83kg.

Henry Slattery (West Adelaide - selection 46) - A medium midfielder / defender with good hands and neat skills. He was a South Australian under 18 representative in 2004. He is 183cm tall and weighs 82kg.

Paul Thomas (Central Districts - selection 60) - Last year's Magarey Medallist. A player who is really determined to make it at AFL level. He stands 180cm and 80kg.

No Vics. All look promising though from their teensy bios posted on the website. I've been driven insane today by my brother going around and asking if I 'Would like Monfries with that?'

World Talent! [11 Nov 2004|11:20am]
[ mood | jittery ]

Goaner Tutlan, a refugee who has been in Australia for four years, has been training with Essendon's development squad for the past six weeks and may be named as a rookie next month.

Although he picked up a footy for the first time just six weeks ago, and is desperately shy of skill, his athletic ability has wowed Bombers staff.

A former player in the Ethiopian National Basketball League, Tutlan has broken the club's 20m sprint record, the agility test record and the vertical leap record.

I can see it now:

Tutlan leaps, he flys above all else, he streaks through the midfield, dodging all opponents, kicks long to LLLLOOOOOYDDDYYYY. Aaaand Goal.

Damn I miss football.

First Blumfield now Caracella? [09 Nov 2004|09:11pm]
[ mood | bored ]

Although Caracella played 18 games in his first season in Brisbane and shared in the third of the club's three consecutive premierships, he struggled to fully embrace the club he considered the fiercest of enemies when at Essendon. The Dons lost the 2001 grand final to the Lions and Caracella scarcely made a secret of the fact that he had not wanted to leave Windy Hill.

While I feel bouncy at the thought of the boys returning home, it shouldn't happen. Reforming the 2000 team won't do any good.

International Rules [18 Oct 2004|04:05pm]
[ mood | amused ]

Would have to have been the funniest thing I'd seen in ages. Hird got sent off. And McVeigh. But Jim? The golden boy of football? Hee. Sols started an all in brawl and there was a crazy dog on the field for the first seven minutes. I've never giggled so much over sport before.

Show 'em your fist Spike!

We got nothing, zlich, zero, zip, zippo. Enough with the Z words. But still nothing. It's very weird.

Zantuck trade fell in by 30 seconds apparently, that happens every year. Fuck, they've got a whole week and they leave it till the last 2 minutes?

[ mood | worried ]

PORT Adelaide is focusing on Essendon's Mark Johnson as a possible replacement for departing premiership hero Josh Carr.

The Power contacted Johnson's management last night as speculation mounted the Bomber would be part of a three-way deal to get Carr to Fremantle.

Under a deal mooted yesterday, the Bombers would receive pick No. 11 and youngster Ryley Dunn from Fremantle in return for Johnson.

...Collapse )

They can get the filthy eyes off him. I can't see how Essendon would even think about this trade. Why get Tenace when we couldn've picked him up last year? This has shades of Solly. Kind of.

Only one Essendon player made the 2004 All Australian side but no less than five will represent their country in next month’s International Rules series in Ireland. Adam McPhee, Mark McVeigh, Dean Solomon, Jason Johnson and James Hird will wear the green and gold in the two match series with the Bomber captain to lead his country for the second time.

Green 'n Gold, oh yeah! Hee! And Jim's the skipper, I'm chuffed! Damn it'll be hard to tell Smokey and Riewoldt apart.
